Mount Everest is the world's highest mountain at 8,848 metres (29,029 ft) above sea level. It is located in the Himalayas on the Nepal China (Tibet) border.
It may be impractical to fly your sales team to Nepal for a real life attempt at the summit of the tallest mountain in the world however, you can invite them to the Everest Challenge. Completing the challenge takes a day full of excitement, exertion, and mental stimulation. Participants develop a range of skills that help increase sales results.
The Everest Challenge demands planning, fund raising, budget management in an expedition to one of the world’s most unforgiving environments … a climbing wall.
Teams raise funds to pay for travel, equipment, food, and logistics. The exercise involves planning and preparation. A single group can compete against the benchmark performance of other teams. Multiple groups compete against each other.
Success depends on completing the final climb within the time available, before the jet stream winds swing back and make the climb impossible.
Planning under pressure and time management are critical aspects of success. Teams have to manage their time and resources to complete various aspects of the challenge. Participants need to pay attention and think on their feet as new information becomes available and unexpected problems occur along the way.
Once on route to base camp each group will need to embrace local culture to trade for supplies and safe passage.
As the group progress up the mountain they will need to cross glaciers, crevasses, and cope with sudden weather changes.
The final push for the summit will not be for the faint hearted. Just as getting a climber to the summit of Everest is a team effort. Groups in the Everest Challenge will need to allocate support roles for the final ascent. Supporters ensure their climbers bring back the trophy, a picture taken from the top of the climbing wall.
